This is a vintage compact that belonged to my mother. The surface is made of beautiful mother-of-pearl with floral carvings and a pearl decoration in the center. There are no hallmarks, but the metal parts are likely silver-plated. There is some discoloration and minor scratches due to age, but it is a very attractive piece for a vintage item.
