This is a piece of indigo-dyed cotton boro. It appears to be from the Meiji to Taisho eras. It is likely to have been used for futon covers, etc. This indigo dye was collected in Kaga. Touching it, one feels the gentle texture of hand-spun yarn, and it has a well-worn feel. There are many patches, tears, frays, damage, and stains, but the fabric is firm, and the faded indigo is refreshing.
