This is a Wajima-nuri lacquerware bowl. It's a beautiful piece with elegant peacock feather maki-e (sprinkled design) on a refined black lacquer base. While it would typically be used as a nimono-wan (boiled dish bowl) in a kaiseki meal, the peacock feathers are gracefully arranged across the lid and body, creating a unique design. The generous size makes it perfect for ozoni (New Year's mochi soup) as well. It's in excellent condition, having only been stored. The size is 13.6 cm in diameter and 10 cm in height.
