Handwritten. With a signature seal. Is this the signature seal of Masatake? Works by Takeshi Hayashi with this seal appear occasionally. Takeshi Hayashi was born in Tokyo in 1896. He dropped out of the Japan Art School. He was first selected for the Nika Exhibition in 1920 and won the Nika Prize in 1922. He withdrew from the Nika Society in 1930 and participated in the founding of the Independent Art Association. He went to Europe in 1934 and worked mainly in Paris. He became a professor at the Tokyo University of the Arts in 1952 and instructed younger artists. His style created unique compositions, and he is famous for landscape paintings, flowers, and portraits of women that boldly used strong, primary colors, giving a strong impression. He received the Order of Culture in 1967.
