This is a Noh mask, "Uba" (Old Woman), made by my grandfather, who was a master carpenter in Iwate Prefecture, during his later years at home. His works were highly regarded and were even lent out to temples and stage performances. The mask of Uba has an expression of compassion and sorrow, giving the impression of wisdom.
