◇ About the Makers ◇ We sell handmade shinobue flutes crafted by a father and daughter team in Shimane Prefecture, with the father having about 25 years of experience as a shinobue instructor and flute maker. We make shinobue and kagura flutes from female bamboo (shinotake) harvested from the Shizumagawa River (formerly the Ginzangawa River), dried for over three years. ◇ Shipping Method ◇ We will ship via Yu-Pack (Yu-Yu Mercari Bin) within 1-2 days of purchase. If you need it urgently, please leave a comment. ◇ Description ◇ A 6-note shinobue is two semitones lower than an 8-note shinobue, resulting in a vocal range closer to the human voice. Songs with a # at the beginning of the score can be smoothly played by transposing them to C major, without using many semitones. ◇ Tuning ◇ Tuned to the Western musical scale of 440Hz, using a tuner to match the second octave. This allows for ensemble playing and performance with other instruments. The flute is tuned to allow for the notes of Ro (first octave), Ko (second octave), and Daiko (third octave) to be played by varying breath strength. Each piece of natural bamboo has its own unique characteristics. Those accustomed to other flute makers' flutes may take some time to master the Daiko notes 3 and 4 on this flute.
