This album is a culmination of those efforts, a monumental album that made the innovation of Coltrane, a new-era tenor saxophonist, clear to everyone. The extremely mechanical performance, which pushed the chord changes, the basic principle of improvisation, to the limit, was difficult for the sidemen of the time to play. As a result of the members changing during the recording, this work was born.
