Features of Cafe Grande Nokyo Organic Coffee This coffee is cultivated by Cafe Grande Nokyo, which operates mainly in the Planadas district of Tolima, one of Colombia's leading coffee-producing regions. This agricultural cooperative was established in 2019, but many of the farms that are members have been cultivating coffee for a long time. Commitment to Organic Cultivation Cafe Grande Nokyo practices traditional cultivation methods on vast organic farmland and has also obtained organic JAS certification. It is grown without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers, using methods that are environmentally friendly. The Environment of the Production Area Tolima, until recently, was considered a lawless and undeveloped area, but since the peace agreement in 2016, active land development has been promoted. It is also known as a region where guerrilla activities were active, and that history is connected to the current conservative and traditional cultivation methods. The altitude ranges from 1,200m to 2,100m, and varieties such as Caturra, Castillo, and Colombia are cultivated. Certifications and Standards Many of these coffees are certified organic JAS, guaranteeing the highest quality. According to Colombian coffee standards, many of the beans are classified as "Excelso Europa" with a screen size of 15 or more, and are known as high-quality beans with a low percentage of defective beans.
