Long Weekend 1978 LONG WEEKEND Subtitled VHS Video Thriller A couple experiencing a slump in their relationship goes camping in a forest by the coast. Despite the beautiful scenery and quiet environment, something feels off. The terrified wife flees the scene, leaving her husband alone to face the night. It's like a horror film warning against humanity's destruction of the natural environment, and also like a suspense film depicting the aftermath of a marital quarrel, but ultimately, it's hard to say what it is. That's because they're just scared for no reason, and nothing actually happens. There isn't enough ingenuity to sustain interest with just the atmosphere of something about to happen. The ending also feels tacked on, leaving one dumbfounded rather than shocked. Since the main characters, the couple, are portrayed as unlikeable, I was hoping for a more brutal outcome.
