During their journey, she escapes with the help of Wang Yu, the crown prince of Goryeo, who was accompanying them as a hostage. However, Yang's mother is killed by Tangqishi, a Yuan general who pursued them. Yang, who managed to escape, disguises herself as a boy named Seungnyang to hide and begins to serve Wang Go, Wang Yu's uncle. As time passes, Seungnyang (Ha Ji-won) grows up to become a skilled archer and leads a group of outlaws.
