NO.370 ⭕️ Takada Suzuri (presented to the then Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, and His Imperial Highness in 1967) Member of the Japan Kogei Association, Ishin Nakajima, over 1.3kg ⭕️ Pentagonal work, favored by women This suzuri (inkstone) is made in Katsuyama, Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture, from black slate called Kaniwa stone (Takada stone), which is produced in the mountains near the scenic Kaniwa Falls in Maniwa City Takehara. The rock layer is only about 1.5m wide, and rare, uniform stone quality is selected from this for the suzuri. The unique silver foil stone pattern of Kaniwa stone gives it its "character." [8] Shape: Pentagonal suzuri ◉ Work This work brings out the best of the natural Takada stone, and the five sides of the inkstone are carefully shaved to almost 80 degrees and finished smoothly, giving it a clean look. ○ The sea and the hills, as well as the edge of the inkstone, have a beautiful Takada stone pattern that shines in a light brown silver color on a black background. The silver color sparkles when light is applied, which is common in good materials, making it unique. Furthermore, it shines like silver foil on the upper right side of the inkstone's shadow. Also, the hills and the inkstone's shadow have a beautiful, slightly mottled, rising cloud-like stone pattern. When you put your fingertip on the inside of the edge, you can feel a sharpness that makes you feel like you could cut yourself, and you can clearly see the high level of craftsmanship. The pentagonal shape is particularly beautiful, and it is a new, beautiful item that feels stylish, making it a work favored by women. It can be called a treasure.
