This is a wooden carved standing statue of Kannon. It is approximately 28cm tall. Kannon Bosatsu is a bodhisattva in Buddhism, symbolizing the "spirit of compassion" who hears the voices of people's suffering and extends a hand to save them. The formal names are Kanzeon Bosatsu and Kanjizai Bosatsu, and they are widely worshipped as a central figure in Mahayana Buddhism. My father bought this and it has been kept at home.
