This is a riders jacket from Isamu Katayama Backlash. Made in Japan, it's based on 0.8mm thick calf leather from Hokkaido, finished by one of the leading tanners in the country. The leather is tanned to a pale milky white (light beige) color, a process called "shiro-nari," before being garment-dyed. This labor-intensive process, where the leather is first tanned to a white color, results in a softer and more flexible texture compared to conventional calf leather, even after garment dyeing. Furthermore, dyeing the pale milky white allows for excellent color development and the creation of delicate, beautiful color tones. The jacket has a texture that feels like it's clinging to the skin, providing a comfortable fit. It's characterized by the unique formation of wrinkles, creating large, three-dimensional waves. The garment dyeing process, using natural dyes, ages over time to develop a rich, deep color. Without a lining, the grain side is used directly on the inside, providing lightness and breathability, along with a texture that feels like it's clinging to the skin, offering a comfortable fit. It has been worn only a few times and is in excellent condition, with no noticeable stains or damage.
