Red chisel for engraving (carving), with a 1.4mm blade width, for hair-line engraving. This chisel is used for carving straight lines and curves that become the main lines of patterns and designs. Please refer to image 4. This is a formed and polished commercially available red chisel. It has been hardened and tempered. It has a slight R (curve), making it suitable for carving curves. ★While you can carve straight lines with a chisel for curves, it is difficult to carve curves cleanly with a straight chisel that does not have an R. You can use this as is, but the blade edge will dull with use, making it difficult to carve.
