★ Silky Type Long Cornet - Scratch & Brush Finish + Clear Lacquer Coating This long (American type) cornet is perfect for wind band performances of pieces by "John Philip Sousa" and "Alfred Reed" where there is a Cornet part separate from the Trumpet part. The currently mainstream short cornet is for brass bands and is used to play the parts of woodwind instruments. When there is a cornet part in the WIND band scores of Sousa and Reed, it is assumed that the performance will be done with a long type cornet. This instrument is a model that was in the lineup during YAMAHA's partnership with the American company Schilke, and it has a playing feel relatively close to a trumpet, so trumpet players can switch to it without feeling out of place when specified in the score. Currently, long cornets from YAMAHA are not distributed domestically, and are only for export to the United States. This instrument has undergone a major overhaul, including rebuilding the 1st slide to a reverse configuration, stripping the deteriorated original lacquer, applying a scratch and brush finish, and coating it with clear lacquer.
