Illustrated poster detailing 307 species of Japanese fish ▪️ Title: Nippon Suisan Gyofu: 307 Selections ▪️ Contents: Illustrations and names of 307 fish species ▪️ Size: 73cm (height) x 103cm (width) ■ About "Nippon Suisan Gyofu" This was initiated by the "Hayatomo Fisheries Research Institute," the first private fisheries research institution in Japan, established in 1920 by "Kyodo Gyogyo Co., Ltd.," the predecessor of Nissui. The purpose was to conduct fishing ground surveys and fish research. In the early Showa era and beyond, artists boarded trawlers and repeatedly observed and sketched at fishing sites. The true forms of the fish are preserved as thousands of delicate, original color drawings. Using these, the pictorial book "Nippon Suisan Gyofu" (edited by Yoshio Hiyama and Fujio Yasuda) was published on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the company's founding in 1961, and the "Nippon Suisan Gyofu" was re-edited based on the latest ichthyology on the occasion of the 100th anniversary in 2011.
