Born in Hada, Mizusawa City, Iwate Prefecture in 1935 (Showa 10), he entered the world of casting at the age of 16. In 1958 (Showa 33), he made his first entry and received his first award at the 2nd Iwate Casting Crafts Exhibition. Since then, he has received over 30 awards. In 2002 (Heisei 14), he was recognized for his outstanding skills and achievements by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare and was awarded the title of "Contemporary Master Craftsman." Currently, there are no other contemporary master craftsmen among the artists of Nanbu ironware kettles and teapots.
