The Chinese people proudly call it the world's porcelain capital. During the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, official kilns were established to produce vessels for the imperial court. Meanwhile, the private kilns, which mainly produced tableware for the general public, gained overseas acclaim and increased exports, making the name of Jingdezhen known throughout the world. The biggest reason why Jingdezhen has built its current status over a long history is the high-quality porcelain clay collected from the surrounding mountains (Gaoling Kaolin).
