Eames Eiffel Base This is an Eiffel base for Eames shell chairs. It can be attached to Eames shell chairs and armchairs. It can be attached to the Eames shell (seat), making it ideal for replacements. *This is the base only. (Includes 4 screws for attaching to the shell.) *It can be attached to the current type of Eames DSW chairs and DSR chairs, etc. It cannot be attached to seats from several decades ago made of FRP materials, such as vintage ones. We have separate listings for bases that fit vintage Eames shell chair seats, so please choose those. Charles, who attended the University of Washington's Department of Architecture from 1925, opened an architectural firm in St. Louis in 1930. In the same year, they won the MoMA "Organic Interior Design Competition" with a plywood (molded plywood) chair entered jointly with Eero Saarinen. During World War II, they advanced plywood technology in a project commissioned by the U.S. Navy to develop leg splints for wounded soldiers.
