Hanamaki Umbrella Miniature - Autumn Leaves Pattern This is a miniature, but it's crafted with great care. The Hanamaki umbrella is said to have originated in the Edo period (around 1801) when it was brought to Iwate by a samurai from Kumamoto. It was passed down to the first Gorohachi Takita in 1905. The lines created by the bamboo from Iwate Prefecture are beautiful, and Japanese umbrellas are also popular as auspicious items that spread out like a fan. Mini umbrellas are popular as room decorations and gifts. Size: Total length approx. 26cm, diameter approx. 37cm, 24 ribs Although unused, there are stains on the back due to long-term storage (see photo 7). The stains are not visible from the surface.
