This is a bamboo-shaped natsume (tea caddy) with tsubo-tsubo maki-e by Kuroda Seigen. The warping of the bamboo on the lid and base is beautifully crafted. The elegant tsubo-tsubo maki-e shines on the t溜-nuri lacquer, giving it a very luxurious feel. It has the kao (signature) of Tantansai, the 14th generation of the Urasenke school, adding to its refinement.
