This is a work by Jean Webster, the author of "Daddy-Long-Legs." I purchased this book at a bookstore when it was released and have stored it on my bookshelf at home for a long time. Although there are some scratches on the cover and the body of the book, I think it's in relatively good condition for a book that's over 40 years old. There is a handwritten date of purchase.
