This is a cotton-padded half coat (han-ten) that my grandmother had made in the Showa era by a kimono shop she knew. I was told it was handmade. She ordered two of the same, and although she wore one quite a bit, it seems to be warmer and more comfortable than modern ones, and she can't bear to part with it. This one, however, has been stored in a chest of drawers, still new and unused. If anyone is interested in wearing it, please consider it. I believe the fabric is tsumugi (pongee).
