This is an eight-legged stand, also known as a "hassokudai" or "shinsen-dai," made from Japanese cypress (hinoki) wood. We've crafted these to be as affordable as possible while still using hinoki, which can be a costly material. This stand is for placing offerings and tamagushi (sacred Shinto offerings). The tabletop uses solid, edge-glued hinoki wood, which looks better than common laminated wood and gives a more authentic feel. The surface is coated with urethane varnish for easy maintenance and durability, so you can use it with confidence. (Unfinished options are also available upon request.) The legs and tabletop can be separated by removing the hardware, making it convenient for transport and storage. Mats are attached to the bottom of the legs to prevent scratches on the floor.
