Old Hirado-yaki Karako dolls. They are a group of five dolls in various poses, approximately 5.5 to 6.5 cm in length. Hirado-yaki was a kiln for the feudal lords, and is characterized by delicate sometsuke (blue and white underglaze) and highly skilled craftsmanship. These dolls were formerly owned by Toho Murayama, a folk toy researcher from Tochigi, and bear his collection stamp on the bottom. Some soiling present. I am also listing various other folk crafts.
