I purchased this about four years ago, but I'm selling it due to moving and decluttering. A smock made of indigo linen from the 1900s to 1920s. While there are many of these items, the number that still retain the egg white treatment is overwhelmingly small. Originally, the egg white treatment was said to have only been available to the upper class. In addition to repelling insects, the egg white treatment was said to have been applied to indigo to prevent sheep's wool and other materials from sticking to it. I have never washed this since I purchased it, and it has been stored in its original condition. The gathering is quite detailed, and both the collar and sleeve length are in good condition.
