Antique French toile de Jouy from around 1880, a beautiful and rare French fabric, decorated with 19th-century bobbin-lace Milanese lace, a short linen curtain panel with a rod pocket, suitable for a door or cafe curtain. A paradise for birds, a lush forest where birds gather and dance. A peaceful forest scene depicting freely flying natural forms. Like Corot's Forest of Boulogne... Birds chasing birds and butterflies, birds singing in pairs (a couple? siblings, chicks?)... Burgundy, pink, light khaki, violet (sienna purple), pale emerald green (turquoise)... A chic and sophisticated use of shades. On a slightly lustrous, pale grayish linen-colored beige twill weave, an ancient and wonderful toile de Jouy in linen (& cotton?) depicted in a restrained color palette. 19th-century Italian Milanese lace edges the hem. Based on a mesh weave, from a single stem, multiple flowers spread gracefully, with variations in the looseness of the weave, creating an elegant design. Delicate small scallops on the edges. A gentle and mellow ecru tone. Beautiful and delicate flower motifs created by soft cotton/linen threads. A natural texture that is smooth and soft, with a slight crispness and firmness, perhaps medium-thick, or slightly thick. The following measurements are approximate, please forgive any errors m(_ _)m Vertical length including lace: approx. 73.7-75 cm Fabric vertical length: 63-64 cm Width: 83 cm Rod pocket width: 3-2.6 cm Approx. 140g In the 9th image, on the left side. There is one repaired area where a frayed part has been carefully mended, at the bottom center of the final image. When held up to the light or space, traces of the seam from the edge and about 15 small holes the size of needle marks can be seen, but they are hardly noticeable when placed flat or underneath. There appear to be no noticeable stains or dirt. Please forgive any minor imperfections, as it is a patterned design and an old piece. The lace has some slightly burgundy-tinged, pale brown and dark brown stains here and there, but they blend in with the fabric. It is unknown whether it was made by Oberkampf. It can be displayed like a tapestry, or used as a cloth for a table, cabinet, or shelf. Two pieces are available. They will be a matching pair if sold separately. Also selling a separate lace piece, 110 cm in length ⇓ Antique French 1880 Toile de Jouy Birds' Forest Bobbin Lace Decorated Curtain
