After much research and effort, she devised a method that utilizes the difference in tension of the warp threads to create its unique texture. In 1978, "Awa Shoai Shijira-ori" using Awa indigo was designated as a national traditional craft by the Minister of International Trade and Industry. The unique texture and beauty of the "Awa Shijira-ori" created by the unevenness are its charm. The ingeniously woven fabric is passed through 75°C hot water and dried, which brings out the vivid unevenness. (2-2)
