A live-action film adaptation of Aoi Hiiragi's masterpiece manga, known as the original work for Studio Ghibli's popular animated film, starring Nana Seino and Tori Matsuzaka. In addition to the story of the middle school years depicted in the original manga and animated film, the film depicts the two protagonists 10 years later as adults with an original story. Shizuku Tsukishima, a middle school student who loves to read, has a terrible encounter with Seiji Amasawa, whose name she often sees on library cards. However, Shizuku learns that Seiji has a big dream, and gradually becomes attracted to him. Encouraged by Seiji, Shizuku also begins to have dreams of her own, but Seiji decides to go to Italy to fulfill his dream. The two promise to reunite in 10 years, pursuing their respective dreams even while separated. Then, 10 years pass, and it's 1999. Shizuku, who continues to pursue her dream while working at a publishing company, encourages herself by thinking of Seiji, who is working hard in Italy... Seino and Matsuzaka play the adult Shizuku and Seiji, while Luna Yasuhara, who is making her film debut, and Tsubasa Nakagawa from "Chasing the Light" are cast as the two in middle school. The film is directed and written by Yuichiro Hirakawa, who also directed "Tsunagu" and "The Promised Neverland."
