This is a prayer bead, with a portion of the sales from the commemorative beads and commemorative sutra books donated to the disaster-stricken areas in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Red, brown, and rosewood beads can still be purchased at each temple if you visit the pilgrimage site, but the green and blue beads are limited edition and are no longer available. I purchased two because the sales are donated as relief funds, but I already had a red bead made into a prayer bead, and the blue bead has never been used and has been carefully stored. I decided to part with it, hoping to pass on these rare beads to someone. As a bonus, I will include a commemorative sange book with color photos for the 50th anniversary of the Shikoku Bekkaku 20 Sacred Sites.
