"This Far," the ultimate analog vinyl box set featuring remastered versions of all 6 of Sade's studio albums. Under Sade's personal supervision, half-speed mastering was performed at Abbey Road Studios, bringing back a sound world faithful to the original! The mastering was meticulously carried out at Abbey Road Studios over a long period of time by Miles Showell, a mastering engineer highly regarded for his unique half-speed mastering technique (a special technique where the cutting machine rotates at half speed, 16 2/3 RPM, while the master audio is played back at half speed), and Mike Pela, Sade's long-time co-producer. Sade and engineer Miles Showell returned to the original sources and first performed a high-resolution digital transfer from the original analog studio tapes to stereo master mixes at Abbey Road Studios. Then, using a Neumann cutting machine, the VMS80, which Miles had uniquely restored, they cut 12 sides of lacquer discs at half speed. Through the meticulous half-speed mastering process, an extremely clean and detailed sound source was created, faithful to the sound Sade intended.
