Spiracore, double bass strings, orchestra tuning, used set, light gauge. Suitable for 3/4 size instruments = string length = 104-106cm. I change these strings every year around this time, so they've been used for about a year, but I only practice 2-3 times a week, so they're still in good condition. Actually, they're just right, as the initial harshness of new strings is gone. As you can see in the photos, there's little fraying. Actually, I've always used Spiracore medium strings, but I switched to these strings last year. The tension is lower, making it easier to press the strings, but I expected a decrease in volume when pizzicato, but instead, they grip the fingers firmly and snap with a "thwack!", resulting in a brighter tone, which was a positive outcome. I cleaned them with alcohol before listing them. With the yen's depreciation causing import string prices to rise, I hope those who, like me, have always used Spiracore medium strings will give these a try.
