Kenji Miyazawa (Author), Ryoji Arai (Illustrator) Otobel, a landlord, and a white elephant that appears at his workplace. Otobel tricks the elephant and makes it work. At first, the white elephant enjoys the work, but gradually becomes exhausted. One night, it murmurs, "It's painful, Santa Maria."
