I believe they can be easily removed, but since it's new and unused, I'm leaving it as is. - It has been stored in a chest of drawers, so there is a slight storage odor (smell of the drawers). If you are concerned, we recommend washing or airing it out before wearing. The material is 100% polyester, which blocks the wind and provides excellent cold protection.
