This is a Nakatsugi (tea caddy) by Kousai Takeuchi of Yamanaka Lacquerware, featuring a bamboo grove maki-e design. The black lacquer is meticulously decorated with gold maki-e depicting a bamboo grove, with mother-of-pearl accents in some of the leaves. Upon closer inspection, the gold used for the bamboo and leaves appears to be different, creating a variation in the gold's luster.
