About 40 years ago, during the Showa Retro era, Okawa was invited to Japan by Kamei Glass and was one of the few glass artisans to learn the method of creating "murrini" directly from a Venetian glass maestro who came to Japan. While at Hokuyo Garasu, he was the first Japanese person to create murrini (murrini) and produced "millefiori" vessels. Later, as Tsugaru Vidro, he adapted Venetian glass techniques to a unique Japanese style. This item is a rare and wonderful work that elevated Italian folk glass to Japanese folk glass. The "murrini," originating from Italy (Rome), has been refined through Okawa's delicate use of color and design, culminating in a truly traditional Japanese tokkuri and sakazuki.
