M51 Field Parka Size M 1950s-60s Commonly known as a mod coat, this is an M51 field parka. It has an integrated hood that can be adjusted with a drawcord. It features button-down epaulettes on the shoulders, large buttons and strap adjustment on the sleeves, and drawcords at the waist and hem. The hem at the back, called a fishtail, can be secured inwards with buttons. The front closure uses mini dot buttons and a CROWN zipper, with a cotton ribbon on the wire pull. The side pockets have flaps (secured with mini dot buttons). There is no tag, only a stamp with the numbers --388, so details are unknown. Actual measurements (flat lay): Shoulder width: approx. 54cm Sleeve length: approx. 62cm Body width: approx. 67cm (134cm) Length: approx. 88cm (from the base of the hood to the base of the tail) Maximum length: 101cm There may be some measurement errors due to hand measurement. As this is military surplus and has aged over time, there is a sense of use, scratches, stains, fraying, and repairs. There is a patch repair under the left epaulette.
