No, it's a very sensitive fuzz pedal. It's a silicon-based effect, with a circuit that has the topology of a Fuzz Face. With a fable feedback design, it creates various sounds from 8-bit tones to gates and oscillations. You can switch between two modes: oscillation and gate, and it has a high responsiveness to instruments due to the input impedance of the effect. In oscillation mode (upper position), the FUZZ knob controls the tone generator frequency, creating a thick oscillating sound that covers from high to low frequencies. In gate mode (lower position), the circuit converts the tone to pulse width modulation (PWM), using the attack as a trigger to convert general overtones into a thick and rich fuzz tone. It can also produce unpredictable octaves with synth octaves, velcro ripping, and guitar decay.
