Workshop: Royal Ceram Royal Ceram AUNEAU street plate ♦︎ Rue J.-Jaurès J.-Jaurès Street. Jean Jaurès was a French socialist and politician. He was a pacifist assassinated before World War I, and many cities have streets named after him. This is a local fève in the shape of a street sign plate, recreating the name of a street that actually exists in the French town of "AUNEAU". Auneau is a small town in north-central France, near Chartres (now Auneau-Bleury-Saint-Symphorien), and is an area where pottery workshops, such as fève workshops, are dotted around, despite being a rural town. The Royal Ceram workshop is also located in this vicinity. This design of "blue background with white frame + white letters" is a traditional French street sign (rue plaque), and is especially common in Paris and other old urban areas. ・Basically an enamel-style ceramic plate (although many are actually made of metal) The blue background with a white frame indicates that it is an "official street in the city management area" and is often attached directly to the walls of buildings. As a design that symbolizes French-ness, it is highly recognized and is said to be a popular design among tourists.
