Ideal for celebrating the birth of a child or for those living alone. ● Material Description ・ The inscription reads "Chikuzen Kuni Ju Munetsugu" (Munetsugu, resident of Chikuzen Province). Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information about this person. Based on the condition of the sword and the inscription, it is likely an old sword from the Kamakura to Muromachi period, possibly from the Sagemonji school of swordsmiths. ・ The hamon (temper line) is difficult to see, but it is a slightly undulating straight temper line. Also, it has a rare umegane (metal plug). Although not noticeable in the photos, there is a rectangular umegane on the ura (back) side. ・ The saya (scabbard) and tsuka (handle) are made of magnolia wood. Finished with cashew lacquer. ・ The tsuba (handguard) and fuchi/kashira (handle collar/butt cap) are from the Edo period. ・ Other fittings are of unknown detail but are from the old era. ・ The sword bag is a remake of an old kimono obi (sash). ・ The mekugi (peg) is made of soot-blackened bamboo. ・ This product is the nakago (tang) portion of the sword.
