This is a homemade violin mute. It reduces the sound during practice. 【Features】 Not only does it provide a clear muting effect to the ear, but its effectiveness is also confirmed numerically through spectrum analysis. It attenuates the 1000-6000Hz range, which is the source of noise harmonics, by 5-10dB, meaning the sound is less than half as loud. I always use this when practicing. ARTINO and similar products that are placed on the bridge have a high muting effect, but they have drawbacks such as: - The contact point between the bow and strings is not visible when attached. - The fundamental tone you want to hear during practice is not audible. - Since it's only placed on the bridge, it can fall off, or cause problems if left on when putting the instrument in its case. - It can leave marks or rubber stains on the bridge. - It's heavy. I made this to overcome these issues. The Quarto, which I also sell, couldn't be attached to some instruments because the parts were made larger to achieve the muting effect. This time, I've made the parts smaller and provided clearance for the E string. By bringing the parts as close to the strings as possible when attaching them to the instrument, I've achieved a muting effect similar to the larger Quarto. 【How to Attach】 Attach the two parts so they sandwich the bridge. They are secured with strong magnets, so when attaching them to the bridge, slide the smaller part from the side to avoid shocking the bridge. Finally, move the parts up as close as possible to the E string without touching it to increase the muting effect. 【Important Notes】 This product is approximately 21mm high (from the center of the bridge to the E string), so it should work if you have a standard 4/4 violin bridge height. Some people have said they were able to use it on 1/2 and 1/4 violins, but I cannot guarantee it. In rare cases, even with a 4/4 violin, the height to the E string may not be sufficient due to the instrument's shape, so please check before ordering. Size: Approximately 42 x 21 x 5 mm.
