Thank you for viewing. This is a Nabeshima-yaki sometsuke (blue and white) small bowl with a lid, featuring karako (Chinese children) design. Size: Approximately 9cm in diameter, 5.5cm in height. Nabeshima-yaki is a highly refined, high-quality porcelain made during the Edo period by the Saga Domain specifically for presentation to the Shogunate and as gifts. Nabeshima-yaki is considered one of the most exquisite porcelains in Japan, created without regard for profit. Sometsuke (dyeing) is a technique using a single color of blue, characterized by extremely fine, meticulous lines and subtle gradations. The kodai (foot) features the "kushihamon" (comb-tooth pattern), a characteristic of Nabeshima-yaki presented to the Shogun. Currently, the techniques are being carried on by families like the Imaizumi Imaemon family and are being revived as modern crafts. After purchase, it has been stored in a warehouse for a long time, so there may be minor scratches and dullness. Please purchase only if you understand this. There are stains on the box (see photos). *I have a large collection of ceramics in the warehouse, but I have decided to declutter, so I will be releasing them sequentially. Please follow me so you don't miss out.
