Located after passing through a bamboo grove, which is also said to be the model for the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, the temple grounds are filled with approximately 5,000 hydrangeas, the largest scale in Kyoto. ✔︎ Hydrangea Week is the busiest time of the year, and there are traffic jams on the mountain road to the temple (some sections are so narrow that cars cannot pass each other), and there are also major traffic jams in front of the parking lots (parking lots 1, 2, and 3). It takes about an hour to enter the temple. It also takes about an hour to get the Goshuin at the reception. If there is a limited Goshuin, it takes at least an hour and a half to receive the Goshuin book, and the wait time increases as the day goes on. By the time you leave, it can take up to three hours.
