Perhaps it's the way they polish the surface and gently interpret the music with the renowned Philadelphia sound... Even compared to Herbert von Karajan's complete set of the same works from the 1960s, which is often criticized for being superficial, the impression is quite different. But do I dislike it? On the contrary, I love it! It's Beethoven that brings me great peace of mind, and I've listened to it with great affection.
