I recently visited the Suntory Museum, where there was an exhibition of Negoro-nuri lacquerware. This is a Negoro-nuri tray with a beautiful abstract pattern of red and black, reminiscent of a leopard. The abstract red and black patterns, the various shades within the red lacquer, and the texture of the surface with its age-old scratches, along with the multi-layered base, make it endlessly fascinating. It dates back to the late Edo period in the 19th century. 1800s. It would be perfect for displaying flowers, small items, or other objects. I have cherished it, but I have decided to part with it.
