This item was found during my parents' enthusiastic decluttering. It seems to be a wedding gift, and there's faint writing on the back, but the person who received it doesn't remember why. The item itself was a wedding gift from that time, so it's made of a single piece of wood with a wood grain pattern, and I think it's a woodcraft item. My mother says she used to like collecting kaishi (paper napkins), washi (Japanese paper), shikigami (paper mats), and chiyogami (decorative paper), so she apparently used those to line the container, and didn't worry about deterioration. She says everyone did that back then (^-^*) It seems to be just the right size for a single serving or a two-person serving of tea sweets. If you turn it upside down, how about using it as a base for interior woodcraft, wood carving objects, or figure stands? Perhaps someone born in 1982 (Showa 57) might like it?
