This is a Miyajima-yaki teacup. Miyajima-yaki from Hiroshima Prefecture began with the creation of ritual vessels by mixing the pure sand from under the main hall of the World Heritage Site, Itsukushima Shrine. It was also known as "Osuna-yaki" (sacred sand ware). Currently, it is fired in kilns on the opposite shore, but it is a work with a deep flavor and warmth.
