Miyagi Prefecture, Naruko-style Kokeshi doll set of two. Approximately 30cm tall. This is part of a collection I received from relatives in the Tohoku region. Both were purchased in the 1960s. They seem to have been gifts for the birth of a child, as "Congratulations on the birth" and what appears to be the date of purchase are written on the bottom. ◎Artist Details (Quoted from Kokeshi Wiki) ・Seishi Okazaki (1926-2002) Lineage: Naruko Teacher: Hitoshi Okazaki Pupils: Seiichi Okazaki / Akiyasu Hayasaka Purchased in 1968? ・Yoshihiro Sato (1936-2015) Lineage: Naruko Teacher: Yoshikichi Sato Pupil: Suzuko Sato Purchased in 1969? ◎Damage Both dolls have large cracks on the left side of their faces. Also, both have overall soiling, and the one made by Seishi Okazaki has dents on the face and fading. After receiving them, I displayed them on a shelf in a storage room (dark place). I don't know the original colors, but they have a beautiful amber-colored luster. The fact that they actually blend well with a Western-style room is perhaps unique to antique wooden products.
