This is a traditional shihoubon (square tray), and the lacquer finish is very beautiful. I felt it was a waste to use it, so I kept it stored away. The mother-of-pearl inlay on the edge is exquisite. I've used it about twice, and when I shine a light on it, there are a few barely noticeable marks. I've kept it in its box for a long time. Thank you for looking.
