This is a Kyocera-made sharpener for double-edged knives. You sharpen the knife by inserting it into the transparent plastic groove and moving it back and forth about 10 times. The plastic cover can be opened to rinse off the ceramic whetstone. I have used it several times, and there are a few scratches on the transparent plastic lid.
